How To Move Glass Or Mirrored Furniture Out Of Your Home

Glass and mirrored furniture is becoming more and more popular. Glass can make your rooms appear much larger than they actually are, and furniture that is mirrored or made of glass can make a room look stylish, attractive and modern. However, glass furniture is fragile and delicate, and if you’re moving house and you want to take yours with you then it’s important that you take the proper care to ensure you’re not going to be causing any damages! If you’re moving house with glass or mirrored furniture then have a look at this guide of helpful tips to get you started!1)    Take stock of what you need to move.Mirrored furniture is often part of a set, which means that you might have anything from a wardrobe and dressing table to sets of drawers and coffee tables. Before you do anything it’s important to think about how many glass and mirrored items you have and how heavy they might be. Are you going to need to carry the furniture up or down flights of stairs? Are you going to be able to lift it on your own? Will your furniture fit through the main doors of your home with ease? These are all questions that you need to be able to answer before you start moving anything! 2)    Hire the help that you need.If you’ve assessed your furniture and decided that you can’t move it on your own then it might be time to call in the professionals. Hire experienced handymen or, ideally, reliable movers to give you the help and assistance that you need. If you’re trying to keep to a budget then you can ask friends and family for help, but remember that they aren’t going to be as reliable as the professionals might be! 3)    Buy the right packing materials.Once you have your movers hired you can start purchasing packing supplies. For mirrored and glass furniture you’re going to need lots of protective items. Start by wrapping the legs, arms and anything such as drawer handles in bubble-wrap. You should also use bubble-wrap or thick foam to protect any corners that might get chipped or broken during transit. Next cover the whole piece in sheets of plastic. If you have the bubble-wrap to spare then you might want to coat the furniture in this before you put the plastic sheeting on, but be aware that this is going to use a lot of bubble-wrap! 4)    Lift, carry and load with care. You should always lift and carry your glass or mirrored furniture with great care. Always lift with your legs and be especially careful if you’re moving up or down flights of stairs. 5)    Don’t overload your removal van if you have fragile furniture in it.If your furniture is fragile then it’s very important that you load the removal van carefully and properly. Store any tables upside-down with their legs in the air and ensure that wardrobes are laying down flat so that they can’t fall during transit. If you have fragile furniture in your van then try not to overload it with too many other boxes and bags, as these can fall during the drive and could damage your furniture! If you can, try to move your mirrored and glass items on their own and without any other boxes to prevent this happening on your moving day.
